For every vote the new party loses, there will be 3 gained, so no worries there. Also, Mr. Brison's riding should hold another vote as they voted for a PC candidate, and he is to represent his constituents, RIGHT?! Although unfortunate that in our party-driven electoral system the candidate takes second place to the party, in this case, it would be a good thing as his constituents voted PC. Now they'd vote conservative, and Scott would be out of a job. Very short-sighted move for Mr. Brison. At least the others 3 MPs have decided to sit as independents, which is partly understandable, but to defect to the corruption of the Liberals? Enjoy your Liberalness until the next election, Scott.

D: Give your head a shake! You have bought the lib-left media spin hook, line and sinker. Liberals are extreme left, almost 100% in line with the NDP, and completely bigoted and intolerant (ie. Hedy Fry, Carolyn Parrish, Herb Dhaliwal etc etc.) of any view not consistent with their socially engineered big government utopian fantasy world. The conservative party is the only party even close to the moderate centre.

Scott Brison, along with Joe Clark, Andre Bachand, John Herron, David Orchard, Sinclair Stevens, Flora MacDonald, Heward Grafftey, Lowell Murray, Marjorie LeBreton, Brian Peckford, Rick Borotsik and Rex Barnes, all ironically "Red Tories" (fiscally con/lib, socially liberal and democratically liberal) had all been on record in the media to leaving a new Conservative Party of Canada if it merged from its exclusive Eastern Canadian Progressive Conservative regional base to a more inclusive pan-Canadian national party with the Canadian Alliance. Scott Brison even went further as a leadership candidate by calling Alliance members "extremists", calling seatmate Elsie Wayne a "vile cow" and saying "In recent days I have a growing sense of doubt that in fact this new conservative party will reflect either my values or the values of Canadians." I don't know if Scott Brison realizes it or not, but people in Central Canada (Ontario) are sick of his type of bigotry - enjoy eating Grits, guy!

It still continues to amaze me that politicians have the audacity to change allegencies without a thought to their constituents. This is an insult to the local voting public, who elected a Tory to represent them. Surely this MP should resign and a new bye election be scheduled, where he can run as a Liberal. Hopefully, he would not be nominated by the local Liberal Party as their candidate.

He was voted in as a conservative. The arrogance to jump ship for his own political gain and to ignore the people who voted in a non-liberal! I can respect him not wanting to be part of the new party. But he should sit as an independent until the next election, then make his decision.

Scott Brison's move to the Liberal Party just underscores what was wrong with the Progessive Conservative party in the first place. That Brison could feel at home in the Liberal party shows that the PCs never really stood for anything that could differentiate themselves from the Liberals. Fed up with Liberal Trudeau style patronage? Watch the PCs under Mulroney expand patronage appointments. Didn't like the PCs introduction of the GST? Watch the Liberals break a campaign promise and keep it. The PCs have never offered the voter a real alternative to the Liberals. I'm glad to see liberal minded politicians like Brison leave the Conservative party. Hopefully the electorate will now be able to see what the various parties stand for and will have some idea of how they might react in government given different circumstances. Parties banded together by a shared belief and cause with a healthy dose of integrity mixed in will give the voter a better idea of what they might get should they vote for a particular party. The PCs never provided this.

Scott Brison is trying to show his real colour as a Liberal not exactly true north Conservative(the hope of the country's moral future), just like a chamelion. Shame on him.
