Posted by Josh Sanderson on 6/9/2004, 7:01 pm, in reply to "Time to charge Paul Martin and his Grits with a religious hate crime against Evangelical Christians" "If it's a (Liberal) minority, this is happening," said one long-time party organizer. "If it's a minority Conservative government, he's going to have to resign right away." The scale of the dump Martin movement is hard to gauge. Those involved are reluctant to identify themselves publicly until after the June 28 election, for fear of being labelled traitors. Three former cabinet ministers are said to be supporting the putsch. But so far, I've been unable to confirm this. What is clear is that a cadre of middle-level, long-time Liberals feels that Martin's going to have to go. "People are quite disappointed," says one prominent Toronto Liberal, a former candidate for the provincial Legislature. "Even people who supported Martin." "There's a lot of dissension," says one Scarborough Manley supporter involved in the dump-Martin campaign. Martin reaps what he sows. He worked for years to stab Chretien in the back, and now that his full Mulroneyism has been revealed, he won't even have the glory of returning the Liberals to yet another majority. Revenge is sweet. Chretien must be laughing his head off right now, sharpening his hunting yellow knife, watching all the infighting going on while riding in one his red and white horse into the fish tank full of politico sharks. It is also worth noting that every successive Liberal Prime Minister has been a cabinet minister in the past Liberal leader's cabinet (Martin was in Chrétien's cabinet, Chrétien was in Turner's cabinet, Turner was in Trudeau's cabinet, Trudeau was in Pearson's cabinet, Pearson was in St. Laurent's cabinet, etc). The party thus has a reputation among members for being very "tight" and loyal, though this is always called into question during leadership races. Yet, a tradition started by Trudeau was to leave cabinet or even government as a senior or junior minister before defeat, work at their profession usually law then only to rejoin again as the leader. This is called "Liberal Party outside leading". So whose next? Remember Turner? Must be French, all English need not apply! Even the Paul Martin Times, a mini-broadsheet propaganda newspaper published daily in English and French throughout the convention, concluded Paul's birth in English Canada's Windsor Ontario hampers the theory only saved by the fact the Martin's live in French Canada's Eastern Townships Quebec. John Manley? Even though John got two elections in 1984 and 1988, Paul will not get that same courtesy as he pushed for this chance to lead an election since 1990, especially as his team is the biggest and still controls most of the organization in the party, even though Jean's was the most effective. It will not go to an Englishmen as his blood was counted for 2004. Alexander Mackenzie - 1867 Probably Pierre Pettigrew, Martin Cauchon, Stephane Dion, maybe Lucienne Robillard, Hélène Scherrer, Liza Frulla, Irwin Cotler, perhaps Denis Paradis, Mauril Bélanger, Jean Augustine or then there's Martin's fav pick - Jean Lapierre - or will Jean Chrétien himself pull another 1990 to 1993, just like after the Joe Clark 1979 experiment PET came back until 1984 like the most ultimate knife in Paul's back! But the President of the Queens Privy Council for Canada, Minister responsible for la Francophonie and former Québéc Jeunes Libéraux du Canada youth wing president, the Honourable Denis "Mister ID Card" Coderre, P.C., M.P of Bourassa is likely to be the next Prime Minister of Canada especially since he has the Mantle of Jean!! But some say with the possibility of a minority Conservative government to last less than a year and a half, most dissenting Liberals will be pressured to back Paul Martin because of the likelihood of a quick follow-up election, however after such an embarassment as this general election will be on him, know that the Grit war room have already decided their top three or have been secretly and socially bio-engineered another undefeatable, Teflon-protected Liberal leader in Martin Luther Mackenzie King to be released in 2005!!!

The Liberals are in disarray. With polls showing them headed for minority government status or worse some party member have quietly begun to organize a campaign to dump Paul Martin after the election.
