Listen... If the earth's speed was variable then the shadow on a sundial would move through it's gradients at different speeds. YOU WOULD HAVE NO WAY TO DISCERN IF IT DIDN'T Got that... You can't use a sundial to prove that sidereal time is different from subjective time WITHOUT an empirical method to compare it to. THAT is my point you moron. The only reason that you know the speed is constant is because you HAVE an empirical standard available. BUT YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THAT (and still don't). If you don't have an empirical benchmark then your only perception of a sundial is SUBJECTIVE. Subjective time IS variable. An ancient man watching a sundial WOULD assume that time is variable because the shadow would move slower the more bored he got (or faster if he got excited). Now do you understand? A sundial proves nothing on it's own
