I think most people would agree with me that your self-esteem is about what others choose to fling your way -
I mean, if you know there's nothing wrong with you really, and you like being you, that doesn't make a difference if other people attack you, verbally or otherwise.
I'm not meaning anyone else needs to build you up, I mean that if you are always having to deal with - for example - the Ronnie Laing explained version of a schizophrenic-causing environment, it doesn't matter what you know about yourself, if the opposite or a variant of that is being constantly reinforced by other people in a systematic manner.
